OpenSpace Datasets

These guides give context, tips, and resources for datasets in OpenSpace. These guides were written by OpenSpace interns Caleb Keaveney, Robert D. Lewis, and Alexis Harris at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in 2020.

Astrobiology Program Guide

Rachel Smith of the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and Appalachian State University created a content guide for an astrobiology-themed facilitated program using OpenSpace. The guide will take you though datasets and locations in OpenSpace that can be used to explore real mission targets beyond Earth and show how our planet fits into this narrative.

Digital Universe Grand Tour Guide

This Digital Universe Atlas guide, created by Brian Abbott of the American Museum of Natural History, take users through the DU datasets from the Earth to the edges of the observable universe. Navigation instructions are not specific to OpenSpace, but compatible. The Digital Universe Atlas is created by the American Museum of Natural History and synthesizes data from dozens of organizations and scientists to create an accurate 3D model of the universe.
